One of the most exciting times of the year, New Year’s Eve, is fast approaching! If you’ll be ringing in the New Year with Mickey and Friends at Walt Disney World, it’s wise to plan ahead to prepare for the crowds and to get the most enjoyment out of your vacation.
Disney knows how to throw a grand celebration with seasonal festivities and spectacular fireworks, and it’s one of the most popular New Year’s Eve destination spots worldwide. Here’s our breakdown of what to expect at each park!
The most popular of the Disney parks, the Magic Kingdom will attract the biggest crowds on New Year’s Eve. You’ll definitely want to arrive early. The Fantasy in the Sky fireworks will begin 10 minutes before midnight on both December 30th and December 31st, giving you two chances to catch the show.
The Illuminations: Reflection of Earth fireworks will feature a special ending for New Year’s Eve. The fireworks performance will only happen on December 31st, but will take place at two times, 6p.m. and 11:40p.m. to give more guests the chance to experience the fantastic display.
Besides fireworks, Epcot will feature New Year’s special holiday menus at these select restaurants:
- La Hacienda de San Angel (Mexico)
- Le Cellier Steakhouse (Canada)
- Monsieur Paul (France)
- New Year’s Eve Dinner buffet (World Showcase)
The Lights! Camera, Happy New Year! Fireworks show will start at midnight on December 31st. Despite not having any other special offerings, this will still be one of the more crowded parks for New Year’s celebrations, so be prepared if you decide to visit then.
Animal Kingdom won’t feature any special events or fireworks, so it will have significantly lower crowds on New Year’s Eve. So if your family would prefer a more relaxed evening with shorter wait times for rides and restaurants, this would be a good choice.
