Celebrate Earth Day at the Theme Parks!

Although they are very different in many ways, there is one thing that Busch Gardens Tampa and Disney’s Animal Kingdom have in common: a dedication to animals and environmental conservation. So it’s no big surprise that both parks have major plans for Earth Day this year.

Earth Day at Busch Gardens Tampa

The Earth Day celebration at Busch Gardens lasts all weekend long, starting April 20 and ending on April 22. The park is celebrating the diversity of planet Earth with a weekend filled with fun activities that will teach guests more about Animal Ambassadors and what actions we can take to help the planet.

On Saturday you can head to the welcome table at Zagora Cafe to pick up your Earth Day guide which includes a schedule of events and a map with spaces for stickers from six Earth Day stations. Each station teaches guests how we can help protect the animals and the planet for the future, learn what major threats face animals in the wild, and how we can protect local wildlife.

If you collect at least three stamps from the Earth Day stations and return your stickered map to the welcome table before 3:30 PM, you can receive a free gift (while supplies last)!

In the Animal Care Center, a presentation series called Conservation in Action will take place throughout the day. During the presentations, the park’s environmental experts will share their favorite projects that are currently being supported by the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund, as well as explain other ways that you can help at home.

The Conservation in Action seminars will continue on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

On Monday, there will be special Earth Day themed enrichment sessions during the regularly scheduled Keeper Talks at the Myombe Reserve, Edge of Africa, and Jungala habitats.

The park will also be making some long term changes in honor of Earth Day. Starting April 22, all retail locations will begin offering reusable bags instead of paper bags. Guests will have the option of buying a reusable bag, available in three sizes, that can be used every time you visit the park or a paper bag that will cost an additional $0.10 along with the cost of your purchase. All of the proceeds from the paper bags will go directly to the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund, as well as 5% of the revenue from the reusable bags.

You can experience all of the Earth Day fun with regular park admission, and you’ll find great prices on Busch Gardens tickets from Tickets2You.

Party for the Planet at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

April 22 is an extra special day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom because it is not only Earth Day, but also happens to be the park’s 21st anniversary! To celebrate both major holidays, the Party for the Planet is returning this year from April 20 through April 22.

During the celebration, guests of all ages will be able to learn, explore, and connect with nature in a magical way with family-friendly activities and special treats.

The festivities begin as soon as you enter the park, with a larger than life sculpture made completely of debris on display. The unique creation, which celebrates DisneyNature’s Penguins, stands tall at The Oasis.

Other fun party elements include unique character appearances, commemorative Disney PhotoPass photo ops around the park, and special entertainment. Animal care experts, animal educators, and conservation experts will be hanging out all weekend long to explain how Disney cares for their animals and the work they do to save endangered species around the world. There will also be special animal feedings and training experiences planned just for Party for the Planet that will educated guests on how the park’s keepers take care of your favorite animals!

Each day of the celebration will include an extra special Tiffins Talk hosted by one of Disney’s most creative Imagineers, Joe Rohde. The brains behind the concept, design, and buildout of Disney’s Animal kingdom will entertain diners with amazing travel tales as they enjoy a special four-course meal featuring global dishes and desserts.

This dining event will take place all three days during the party from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and costs $199 per person plus tax and gratuity. Space is limited, so reservations are required. Call (407) WDW -DINE to book your spot now!

With the exception of the Tiffins Talks, the rest of the festivities are all included with regular park admission! Prepare to attend the Party for the Planet by grabbing discount Disney tickets from Tickets2You!
