Although they are very different in many ways, there is one thing that Busch Gardens Tampa and Disney’s Animal Kingdom have in common: a dedication to animals and environmental conservation. So it’s no big surprise that both parks have major plans for Earth Day this year.
Earth Day at Busch Gardens Tampa
The Earth Day celebration at Busch Gardens lasts all weekend long, starting April 20 and ending on April 22. The park is celebrating the diversity of planet Earth with a weekend filled with fun activities that will teach guests more about Animal Ambassadors and what actions we can take to help the planet.
On Saturday you can head to the welcome table at Zagora Cafe to pick up your Earth Day guide which includes a schedule of events and a map with spaces for stickers from six Earth Day stations. Each station teaches guests how we can help protect the animals and the planet for the future, learn what major threats face animals in the wild, and how we can protect local wildlife.
If you collect at least three stamps from the Earth Day stations and return your stickered map to the welcome table before 3:30 PM, you can receive a free gift (while supplies last)!
In the Animal Care Center, a presentation series called Conservation in Action will take place throughout the day. During the presentations, the park’s environmental experts will share their favorite projects that are currently being supported by the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund, as well as explain other ways that you can help at home.
The Conservation in Action seminars will continue on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
On Monday, there will be special Earth
The park will also be making some long term changes in honor of Earth Day. Starting April 22, all retail locations will begin offering reusable bags instead of paper bags. Guests will have the option of buying a reusable bag, available in three sizes, that can be used every time you visit the park or a paper bag that will cost an additional $0.10 along with the cost of your purchase. All of the proceeds from the paper bags will go directly to the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund, as well as 5% of the revenue from the reusable bags.
