Know Before You Go: Park Updates for January 2018

Happy New Year! The holidays may be over but the fun certainly never stops in Orlando, especially at your favorite Florida theme parks. Check out new attractions at LEGOLAND, get extra Magic hours at Disney World, and enjoy tons of other exciting events this month.

What’s New

  • Pizza Ponte is now open at Disney Springs. The quick service location offers pizza by the slice, sandwiches, and Italian desserts.
  • The Edison, Maria & Enzo’s, and Enzo’s Hideaway all officially open on January 4 at Disney Springs.
  • A brand new theatrical experience opens at LEGOLAND Florida on January 20 called LEGO Ninjago: Master of the 4th Dimension.

Closed Attractions

  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is closed until March 18.
  • Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom will be closed for refurbishments from January 2 – February 9.
  • The American Adventure at Epcot will be closed for refurbishments from January 5 – February 5.
  • Stitch’s Great Escape, which has been operating seasonally at Magic Kingdom for the last few  years, will close permanently on January 6.
  • Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom will be closed temporarily starting January 8

Special Events

  • SeaWorld Orlando‘s 3 Kings Day celebration begins January 1 and ends January 6.
  • Epcot‘s International Festival of the Arts begins January 12. The event will run seven days a week until February 19.
  • Three special After Hours events will take place at Disney World this month: Jaunary 19, January 26, and January 30.
  • LEGO Ninjago Days take place at LEGOLAND Florida for two weekends this month: January 20-21  January 27-28.
  • Praise Wave begins at SeaWorld Orlando on January 20. The concert series ends February 10.
  • A Celebration of Harry Potter returns to Universal Orlando January 26-28.
