Everything from classics like Jambalya and Creole Gumbo, to more contemporary Andouille Sausage and Red Beans and Rice are available to sample. There are even Beignets, for those with a sweet tooth, to top off any meal. There are even authentic musical acts from New Orleans to help immerse visitors in the Big Easy atmosphere right here in Central Florida. The French Quarter opens at 4PM every night during the months-long celebration.
Of course, what Mardi Gras celebration would be complete without the Mardi Gras Parade? On select Saturdays and Sundays throughout the Mardi Gras celebration, these authentic floats from New Orleans, make their way down the main avenues of the park. This year’s theme, Around the World in 80 Days, highlights the classic tale from Jules Verne. The floats will showcase exotic locales from the renowned text, as well as, the various forms of transportation utilized by the book’s main character as he made his way around the world in 80 short days. There’s also the Little Jester’s Parade Viewing Area for those with little ones who want to enjoy the parade as well. The parade, on select Saturdays and Sundays, runs between 7:15 and 7:45. Make sure to check the schedule for exact times.
For the late night party animals, there is the official Mardi Gras after party at Universal CityWalk. The World Famous Pat O’Brien’s pub has been transplanted from New Orleans’ French Quarter and recreated at Universal CityWalk. Make sure to enjoy a Hurricane on the bar’s patio or enjoy some of your favorite Cajun cuisine while joining in a sing-a-long as you party the night away. Pat O’Brien’s is open late until 2am nightly.
So come on down, ya’ hear, and join the party at Universal Studios! The next best thing to being in New Orleans during Mardi Gras is to have it brought to your own backyard in beautiful, sunny central Florida!
