This year is a big one for Walt Disney World Resort with many reasons to celebrate including the 30th anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the 25th anniversary of The Lion King, and “The World’s Biggest Mouse Party”, Mickey’s year-long birthday celebration! Disney World is starting 2019 off with a bang, unveiling all new entertainment and exciting events at all four parks on January 18.
Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration
Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration is bringing tons of goodies to Magic Kingdom starting with an all new Move It! Shake It! MouskeDance It! Street Party, which will liven up Main Street U.S.A. several times throughout the day. During the upbeat party, energetic hosts will lead the crowd in modern remixes of popular Mickey Mouse Club hit songs and a brand new song called “It’s A Good Time.” The show will also feature appearances by several familiar characters including Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Max, Pluto, Chip ‘N’ Dale, Clarabelle Cow and more.
Other special entertainment includes musical performances throughout the day from The Dapper Dans (Frontierland), The Casey’s Corner Piano Player (Main Street U.S.A.) and other surprise entertainers daily from January 18 through September 30.
In honor of the celebration, Mickey and Minnie will appear at their meet and greet inside Town Square Theater with all new party outfits. Also inside the Town Square Theater is the official Surprise Celebration guestbook, where park-goers can stop in a sign a not to Mickey and Minnie telling them how much you enjoyed their party. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet and greet with Pluto at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Storybook Circus during Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration.
Throughout the park, the party continues with exclusive merchandise and specialty food and beverages sold at select locations.
30 Years of Hollywood Studios
Disnye’s Hollywood Studios is celebrating a milestone 30 year anniversary in May but the party starts tomorrow, when the park’s official 30th anniversary commemorative logo will be unveiled. In addition to the new logo, guests will have the opportunity to party with their favorite Pixar superheroes during “An Incredible Celebration”.
For a limited time, Pixar Place is transforming into a Municiberg City Block full of exclusive Incredibles entertainment. Guests will have a rare opportunity to get the full Edna Mode Experience at her pop-up gallery that displays her most innovative designs and her many awards. In addition to browsing through her collection of super suits, you’ll have the chance to meet and greet with Edna throughout the day.
You can also take part in the Where’s Jack-Jack? Scavenger Hunt, which requires guests to look for clues like laser scars, footprints, and cookie crumbs in order to track down the Incredible baby. Mr. and Mrs. Incredible get in on the fun with a Super Shindig dance party complete with lively music, dancing, interactive games, and appearances from the super parents and Frozone. Special Incredible snacks will be available for purchase during the celebration, such as Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums, The Hero Sandwich, Mrs. Incredible’s Mask with Cheese, and more!
The Incredibles aren’t the only Pixar pals making appearances at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Mike and Sulley from Monster, Inc. will be hanging out at Walt Disney Presents to meet and greet with fans during the celebration. These exciting festivities will take place at the park until September 30.
25 Years of The Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, guests can celebrate 25 years of The Lion King with the new Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party, starting January 18 on Discovery Island. Led by Timon and Rafiki, the party features fun dances and games inspired by the classic Disney movie accompanied by live musicians performing world beat style tunes. You can also pose for pictures at new 3D photo ops that recreate iconic scenes from The Lion King.
