This November everyone’s favorite mouse is celebrating a major milestone and there is no better way to celebrate 90 years of Mickey Mouse than with the “World’s Biggest Mouse Party”, a worldwide birthday bash in honor of the Disney mascot. The official anniversary date is November 18, marking 90 years since Mickey made his Disney debut in the iconic “Steamboat Willie” cartoon short, but the giant celebration begins at the beginning of the month and takes over television, Disney parks all over the world, and more!
The festivities kick off on November 4 with “Mickey’s 90th Spectacular”, a two-hour television special airing on ABC at 8|7c. The celebratory show will be jam-packed with celebrities, musical performances, and film clips that have never been seen before.
Sometime later this year Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse Shorts series will begin its fifth season rounding out the show to more than 90 episodes total, including a special longer birthday episode.
In New York City, an interactive art exhibit inspired by Mickey Mouse is opening on November 8. The exhibition will be running until February 10, 2019, open every Tuesday – Sunday from 10:00 AM til 8:00 PM. Tickets will cost $38 per person.
Disney On Ice will also celebrate Mickey throughout the next year. Shows touring the United States, Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East will feature new Mickey’s 90th pre-shows that pay homage to Mickey as the “True Original”. A new production, Disney On Ice presents Mickey’s Special Celebration, is currently touring the Asia-Pacific region and celebrates some of the best Mickey Mouse memories of the last 90 years. Mickey’s Special Celebration will run through August 2019.
D23 (Disney’s official fan club) will celebrate the milestone with Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse starting November 17.
