5 Reasons to Visit Walt Disney World in 2016

The year is almost over, but with that comes an entirely new and exciting year at Walt Disney World. Start making plans, or resolutions if you will, to experience the Disney vacation of your dreams and the all-new and improved attractions coming to the Disney parks.

1. Disney Springs will be completed – Mid-2016

The transformation of “Downtown Disney”has already started, most notably with its re-branding to Disney Springs, an ode to Florida’s waterfront towns from the turn of the century. Along with a new causeway connecting the LEGO Store to the Rainforest Cafe across the water, Disney Springs has opened up several new shops and restaurants including The Boathouse Restaurant, Morimoto Asia, and Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar. During 2016, guests can expect Disney Springs to be completed, with more than 150 shops and dining experiences planned for the area.

2. The new Frozen attraction will be open – Early 2016

If you’ve been to Epcot recently, you may have noticed that the Norway pavilion is under construction. Replacing the Maelstrom ride in the Norway pavilion, the attraction named Frozen Ever After will feature a boat ride that transports guests through a re-creation of the “Frozen” movie. The ride features “Frozen” audio-animatronic characters performing scenes set to the film’s soundtrack. The attraction is scheduled to open in early 2016.

3. Soarin’ Around The World – Spring 2016

Beginning in 2016, guests at Epcot can experience a whole new “Soarin'” experience. The popular ride at Epcot is undertaking a whole new adventure that will take guests on a journey around the world to far-off lands that feature natural landscapes and man-made wonders. The attraction will include scenes over the plains of Africa, and a flight over China’s Great Wall, among other locations. Soarin’ Around the World is expected to open Spring 2016.

4. Symphony in the Stars: A Galactic Spectacular – December 18th, 2015

Beginning this year, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be debuting a nightly firework show set to the sounds of John William’s epic Star Wars themes. The park recently revised the Star Tours attraction, and opened the Star Wars Launch Bay at Hollywood Studios which features tour galleries with memorabilia from the films, interactive video games, a 10-minute “behind-the-scenes” movie that features how the films were brought to life, meet-and-greet opportunities, shopping, and more. Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios can expect a much larger Star Wars presence next year, and the following year when plans for a new Star Wars-themed land begins construction.

5. “Rivers of Light” and Sunset Kilimanjaro Safaris – Spring 2016

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is on the path to a new makeover, and will feature several changes and additions in 2016, as well as 2017. The Rivers of Light and the sunset Kilimanjaro Safaris, both opening Spring 2016, are aimed to keep guests at the park later in the evening. The Rivers of Light is a new entertainment experience that combines live performers with floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery. The Sunset Kilimanjaro Safaris, a new nighttime adventure, will allow guests to travel through the African savanna amid the orange glow of the setting sun.
