Disney has finally released full details about the upcoming Star Wars Launch Bay opening in Hollywood Studios on December 1, 2015. This spot is to be the headquarters for all-things Star Wars planned to open in the park over the next couple of years. We’ve got the scoop here to help you plan your vacation to Walt Disney World!
The Launch Bay is located in the former Magic of Disney Animation building. Your fantasy adventure into the Star Wars universe begins with the walled queue leading into the building. Before guests enter, they’re teased with concept art decorating the walls outside.
Inside, Disney has outlined a paradise for Star Wars fans with character meets and greets, exclusive interview footage, memorabilia galleries, video games and merchandise.
In the Character Encounters area, guest enter 360-degree immerse themed areas with special settings and characters from the franchise. Meet Vader in the Star Destroyer if you choose the “dark side” or run into Chewbacca in a makeshift Rebel base if you’re on the “light side”. Other beloved Star Wars characters may make appearances here as well.
In the Launch Bay Theater, guests can watch a short video of exclusive interviews from the creative minds behind the franchise. Fans will also enjoy exploring and taking photos at The Cantina, a fun setting inspired by the unsavory bar from the movie. Over at the Game Center, guests can play current and upcoming video games with exclusive special content.
There are multiple galleries on display at the Launch Bay with iconic ships, large-scale prop replicas, scenic murals as well as a Preview Gallery that displays exclusive sneak peeks at prop replicas, artifacts and memorabilia from the latest movies in the Star Wars saga, starting with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
In the Launch Bay Cargo, guests can purchase a variety of unique merchandise, including original art and collector’s items.
Launch Bay is just a small part of the ambitious Star Wars project rolling out at Hollywood Studios. Season of the Force begins on January 5, 2016, a new destination in Star Tours has already opened and the all-new Jedi Training Center will be unveiled in December 2015.
