After much speculation, a thrilling new rollercoaster at Universal Orlando is officially on the way! The Jurassic World Velocicoaster is scheduled to open at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Summer 2021.
Based on the blockbuster movie, the intense ride design is a collaboration between Universal’s Creative Team and Amblin Entertainment. Jurassic World Velocicoaster features an original story based on the creatures and environments from the film.
When the Velocicoaster opens, it will replace Busch Gardens’ Tigris as Florida’s fastest and tallest launch coaster. With a track that is more than 4,700 feet long, riders will experience top speeds of 70 miles per hour. The ride will feature a first-of-its-kind maneuver that sends riders upside down across 100 feet of track in a zero-gravity inverted stall. A “top hat” maneuver that sends riders 155 feet in the air, quickly followed by an 80-degree drop. This is Universal’s steepest drop yet! There is also a unique 360-degree barrel roll over the lagoon.
We’ve had an eye on the ongoing construction of Jurassic World Velocicoaster for quite some time, so it’s exciting to know a little bit more about the upcoming attraction. While we wait for more details leading up to grand opening next summer, check out all the amazing things you can find currently in Jurassic Park at Universal Orlando!
