5 Creative Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

Because Orlando is full of theme parks and attractions that make the city unique, it’s easy to go beyond the chocolate hearts and flower bouquets this Valentine’s Day with a special celebration like no other. From walking around a festival to dinner and a show with a twist, here are a few ways to take your day to the next level.

Take a Vintage Water Tour at Disney Springs

The BOATHOUSE, located in The Landing at Disney Springs, offers daily tours around the lake via amphicar that allows guests to explore Disney Springs landmarks in a unique way. However, you can make the experience even more special by upgrading to a Venezia Champagne Tour. Set out on the lake in a vintage 40-foot Italian water taxi for a romantic cruise around the lake complete with chocolate covered strawberries and a champagne toast! 30 minute tours cost around $75 per person and 60 minute tours are around $115 per person. You can also book a Venezia Wine-Tasting Cruise, which includes an hour-long tour accompanied by delightful pairings of award-winning wines and hors d’oeurves and a complimentary souvenir wine glass. Spend the Day at a Festival

Special events and festivals always make for memorable dates because it’s not something you can experience any day of the week. At Epcot, art lovers can explore some of the finest visual, culinary and performing arts at Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts. The annual event celebrates creativity of all kinds with Disney inspired art on display, unique food studios and Disney on Broadway performances daily. On February 14, guests can watch performers Kissy Simmons and Alton Fitzgerald White from The Lion King on Broadway light up the stage at the America Gardens Theater during one of three performances (5:30 PM, 6:45 PM, and 8:00 PM). Busch Gardens’ longest running concert series Real Music, Real Masters is currently running at the park with different performances each week through During the week of Valentine’s Day (February 11 – February 16), there’s a unique opportunity to take in an amazing performance of Ballroom With A Twist. “America’s favorite touring dance show” is the newest addition to the festival lineup. The show is made up of talented performers from Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and American Idol. Performances take place twice daily, at 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

If you’re saving your Valentine’s Day celebrating for the weekend, another festival option is the Seven Seas Food Festival at SeaWorld Orlando. This annual event, which only takes place on weekends, is a celebration of food, drink and entertainment from around the world. Indulge in delicious hand crafted menus that represent the regions of the world at more than 10 different festival marketplaces set up around the park, and make your way to Bayside Stadium for live performances from some big names in the music game. Enjoy Dinner and a Show Like No Other

One of the most unique things about our favorite theme parks is that they all offer a mix of unbeatable entertainment and a variety of awesome restaurants, taking the traditional “dinner and a show” date night idea to a completely new level! At Disney World, all four parks offer a reserved seating + dining package to select shows including a brand new package for IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot. In honor of the show’s farewell season at the park the new dining experience includes a prix fixe dinner on the Rose & Crown Dining Room patio which offers awesome views of the World Showcase Lagoon, where the evening spectacular takes place. In addition to unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, the menu includes an appetizer, entrée, and a dessert. Other packages are available for shows at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios as well, which you can read about here.

Over at Universal Orlando, you can have a similar experience without having to pay for park entrance by attending an incredible performance by Blue Man Group in Sonos Theater at CityWalk. The show is an amazing mix of music, comedy, lights, technology, and of course paint. On Valentine’s Day the show takes place at 8:00 PM, which leaves plenty of opportunity to start the evening with a delicious dinner at one of 25 different restaurants located at Universal CityWalk.

Music and a Picnic in the Garden

There aren’t many places in the country where you could probably enjoy a date night outside in February, but you can take your romantic celebration outdoors at Leu Gardens. The 50-acre property allows for food and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to be brought into the so you can pack up a nice picnic, bring some chairs and blankets, and get settle at the Gardens to enjoy an evening of music during a Valentine’s Day concert featuring Ricky and the Buzzcatz. The performance takes place on Thursday, February 14 from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Purchase tickets now for $15 per person or when you arrive for $20 per person.

Take the Pressure Off With a Prix Fixe Dining Experience

Some people prefer a low-key kind of celebration, opting for a simple night out enjoying each other’s company. Luckily, there are several restaurants on International Drive that offer an amazing dining experience without all the pressure of planning the evening. At Taverna Opa, located in the Pointe Orlando complex, the night’s theme is “Forget Romance, Let’s Dance!” and promises a pre-fixe menu in addition to belly dancers and other Greek-style entertainment. The menu, which costs $85 per couple, includes:

  • Starters: Housemade Hummus, Marouli Salad, and Saganaki
  • Entrée: A 22 oz Porterhouse and a 7 oz Lobster Tail
  • Dessert: Loukoumades

Pre-fixe dining starts at $85 per couple, not including tax or gratuity. For guests looking to dine at Taverna Opa but do not want to take part in the pre-fixe dining experience, the regular menu will also be available from 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM. Reservations are recommended.

“Love is in the Air” at Tapa Toro as well. The tapas restaurant located in the Icon 360 complex on I-Drive is also offering a prix fixe dinner for two that provides the passion of Spain with an evening of delicious food and amazing flamenco dancing. The menu includes:

  • Starter: Seasonal Salad
  • Surf and Turf Platter: A 14 oz Ribeye and a 7 oz Lobster with Garlic Shrimp, Grilled Asparagus, and Rosemary Potatoes
  • Dessert: Chocolate Tarte

The prix fixe dinner starts at $85 per couple, not including tax or gratuity. The regular menu is also available from 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM. Reservations are recommended.
