Know Before You Go: Theme Park Updates for December 2020

This month, it’s all about holiday fun in Orlando. Each local theme park has created modified versions of its annual celebrations in order to safely bring extra joy to the parks.

Walt Disney World

Christmas came very early at Walt Disney World this year, with holiday fun starting November 6 across the resort! In addition to incredible decorations across the resort, guests can enjoy seasonal treats, entertainment, merchandise, and more. Santa Claus even stops by for visits at all four parks during the holiday season. You can enjoy all of Walt Disney World’s holiday fun daily through December 30.

In addition to all the other festive fun at the parks, you can get a taste of the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays! Although the festival has been slightly modified this year, there are still several ways to experience holiday traditions from around the world at the park.

These seasonal celebrations are not the only things happening at Walt Disney World this month.

Magic Kingdom’s Crystal Palace reopens on December 13 as a family-style dining experience. Characters from the Hundred Acre Wood will not be making appearances for now, but there are several new menu items to look forward to, including:

  • Crispy Fried Chicken with Honey Pot Drizzle
  • Fire Roasted Prime Rib of Beef
  • Fried Cauliflower

Also at Magic Kingdom, Tomorrowland Terrace reopens on December 17 with a refreshed menu. Some items from Columbia Harbor House are now available at Tomorrowland Terrace, including lobster rolls, chicken nuggets, and fried shrimp.

At Disney Springs, a new Rustic Cuff location has opened in Town Center near the Under Armor Brand House.

Between social distancing requirements and scheduled refurbishments, there are several attractions currently unavailable across the resort:

  • Casey Jr. Splash ‘N Soak Station – Magic Kingdom
  • Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade – Magic Kingdom

  • Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor – Magic Kingdom
  • A Pirate’s Adventure – Treasure of the Seven Seas – Magic Kingdom
  • Festival of Fantasy Parade – Magic Kingdom
  • Move It! Shake It! MouskeDance It! Street Party – Magic Kingdom
  • Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire – Magic Kingdom
  • Happily Ever After Fireworks – Magic Kingdom
  • Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – Magic Kingdom
  • Liberty Square Riverboat – Magic Kingdom
  • Walt Disney World Railroad – Magic Kingdom
  • Tom Sawyer Island – Magic Kingdom
  • Advance Training Lab at Mission: SPACE – EPCOT
  • Bruce’s Shark World – EPCOT
  • Project Tomorrow: Inventing the Wonders of the Future – EPCOT
  • Turtle Talk with Crush – EPCOT
  • EPCOT Forever Fireworks – EPCOT

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Holidays has been bringing extra cheer to Universal Orlando Resort since November 14. Holiday celebrations take place from the Wizarding World to Seuss Landing and everything in between.

SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando’s Christmas Celebration started on November 21, bringing tons of holiday cheer to the park on select dates through December 31. All across the park, there are tons of new shows, treats, and experiences in addition to the fan-favorite seasonal entertainment.

This year, additional safety measures have been added so that guests can safely enjoy the holiday celebrations in the park. Despite the modifications, you can still experience all of the festive fun you’d expect to find at SeaWorld Orlando’s Christmas Celebration!

Busch Gardens Tampa

Busch Gardens Christmas Town returned to the park on November 20. with special open-air modifications that allow for safe celebrations throughout the park. Parkgoers can enjoy special holiday entertainment, shopping, and treats under brilliant light displays. Busch Gardens Tampa’s holiday festivities take place daily through January 3.

LEGOLAND Florida

The Holidays at LEGOLAND Florida kicked off on November 27. This year’s event brings festive activities to the park on select dates all season long! You can enjoy special treats, entertainment, LEGO builds, and more each weekend through December 30.

Other Local Attractions

For a second year, Colorful Christmas at the Crayola Experience brings special holiday fun to the attraction daily through January 4, 2021! Along with all the usual activities, Colorful Christmas at the Crayola Experience includes eight festive attractions to enjoy.
